Suki Kwon, born in Korea, studied shychology in her native Korea, but a yearlong stay in London, U.K. and a life-changing backpacking travel through Europe in 1995 convinced her to change her path and pursue a career as an artist.
She came to the United States in 1997 as a part of an exchange program at the University of Iowa where she earned M.A. (Thesis: Space Illusion) in 2001 and M.F.A. (Thesis: Design and Nature) in 2003.
Suki, trilingual in Korean, English, Japanese, has traveled extensively through many parts of the world. She performed an independent research in Tokyo, Japan with FLAS fellowship and Stanley scholarship before joining the faculty at the University of Dayton in 2004.
Her works have been exhibited locally, nationally and internationally. She is a 2008 NICHE award winner and a grantee of MICA Summer Artist in Residency, Norton Island Residency and Ohio Arts Council Grant.
